About Metaport Community Edition and Open Source

The Metaport open source software, when self-hosted, operates independently of Dcentrica Solutions Limited services. When you self-host Metaport:

  • No data is sent to Dcentrica Limited
  • You maintain full control of all data
  • Your privacy settings are managed by your organisation
  • This privacy policy does not apply to your self-hosted instance

Our Commitment To Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining our online and offline information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used (collectively, the “Policy”). Throughout this Policy, “we”, “us”, and “our” refers to Dcentrica Solutions Limited (“Dcentrica”) and its parents, subsidiaries, and its affiliated entities, and “Website” or “Site” refers to www.getmetaport.com, including mobile versions of those sites.

This Privacy Statement sets out how we will collect, use, disclose and protect your Personal Information where we act as the controller.

Please refer to the relevant customer’s Privacy Statement for how they collect, use, disclose and protect your Personal Information where we act as the processor.

Your Consent

Please review this Policy periodically. You should read this entire Policy before submitting information, including personal information, to us in any form or using our Site. Whenever you submit personal information to us, you consent to the collection, use, disclosure, share, sale, transfer, and storage of that information in accordance with this Policy.

We may make full use of all information that is de-identified, aggregated, or otherwise not in personally identifiable form. We may also make full use of all user-generated content you submit to us, in accordance with our Terms of Service.

This Privacy Statement uses the same definitions (and rules of interpretation) as those used in the Metaport Terms of Service, found at https://www.getmetaport.com/terms.

Changes to this statement

We may change this Privacy Statement from time to time in the future by uploading a revised version. The change will apply from the date that we upload the revised version.

Information we collect

We collect information including personal identifiers, financial and commercial information, and Internet and device information, including, without limitation, your name, job title, billing and mailing address, email address, phone number, and credit/debit card information.

We may collect information about your browsing history, search history, purchase behaviour, IP address, device type, location information, and other information regarding your interaction with a particular website, application, or advertisement, including the Website, when and after you use the Website.

We collect this information from:

  • you, when you choose to voluntarily provide it, including when you provide that Personal Information to us, through registration and use of Metaport, through any contact with us (e.g. telephone call or email, web chat), or when you buy our products and services.
  • third party sources, where you have authorised this, or where the information is publicly available including but not limited to service providers, entities providing data analysis and analytics, social media and social networking websites and other entities;
  • your use of our service, including IP addresses, location information, browser information, and any other action you might take while using our services or interacting with our Website.

How we use your Personal Information

We process your Personal Information to:

  • Verify your identity;
  • Provide you with the Metaport or Dcentrica Services, perform our contract with you, and otherwise carry out our obligations under and enforce compliance with our Terms;
  • Respond to communications from you (including complaints) relating to the Metaport or Dcentrica Services;
  • Identify you when you sign-in to your account and verify that your account is not being used by others;
  • Bill you and collect money that you owe us, including authorising and processing credit card transactions;
  • Improve our Website and the Metaport or Dcentrica Services;

  • Identify potential customers who may wish to use Metaport or Dcentrica Services;

We may also use and disclose de-identified information (non-Personal Information) as set out in this Privacy Statement and as we otherwise determine, provided that there is only a low risk that any person could be re-identified from the information.

Disclosing your Personal Information

We may disclose your Personal Information to:

  • other third parties for anonymised statistical information;
  • service providers and contractors for purposes of: (1) performing functions on behalf of us, such as processing credit card transactions; (2) providing you with product offers, marketing or promotional materials through phone, text, or electronic and/or postal mail; and (3) tracking information generated through our Website or social media sites. Our vendors, partners and third-party independent contractors are obligated contractually not to use or share your personal information for unauthorized purposes;
  • a person who can require us to supply your Personal Information (e.g. a regulatory authority or law enforcement agency);

Overseas transfers

We utilise the services of entities in various countries (New Zealand, Australia, the European Union, Canada, the United States of America). Consequently, we may transfer Personal Information to parties located in these countries. Although we will endeavour to ensure that your Personal Information is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Statement as well as applicable data protection laws, you acknowledge that some of these countries may not have an equivalent level of data protection laws as those in New Zealand.

You consent to the rights of access, processing and disclose on the basis specified above.

How long we keep your Personal Information

We will keep your personal information:

  • until we no longer have a valid reason for keeping it;
  • until you request us to stop using it;
  • for as long as required by applicable law;
  • When you delete your account, some information continues to be stored in backups.

We and/or third parties including advertising companies, social networking sites, and service providers on our behalf, use cookies, web beacons and other similar technology, to collect information for the purposes described in this Policy including advertising, analytics, online behavioural marketing, monitoring performance and improvement of our online services (traffic, errors, page load time, popular pages, etc.).

Our data is always transmitted securely over HTTPS, passwords are kept encrypted and database and software is regularly checked for any potential security issues.

Intended Audience of Website; COPPA Compliance

We are in compliance with the requirements of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”). We do not knowingly collect information from minors in the United States or elsewhere with or without the consent of their parents or guardians. Children (under the age of 18) are not eligible to use the Website unsupervised, and we ask that children do not submit any personal information to us.
